Scripture: Romans Chapters 15 and 16
Reflection:
In Romans 15, Apostle Paul calls for unity and encouragement among believers, urging those who are strong in their faith to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please themselves. “Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up” (Romans 15:2). Paul emphasizes that the endurance and encouragement granted through the Scriptures give us hope, and he prays that God will fill us with joy and peace as we trust in Him, so that we may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 16 highlights the importance of community and cooperation in the early Christian church. Paul sends greetings to numerous members of the church at Rome, mentioning them by name and acknowledging their contributions, which shows the diverse and active role that each played in the life of the church. He warns the Romans to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in the way that are contrary to the teachings they have learned, urging them to be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the unity and encouragement we find in Christ. Help us to bear with one another in patience, and to seek to build each other up in love and good deeds. Fill us with Your joy and peace as we trust in You, that we might overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Protect our community from divisions and guide us in Your wisdom. May we always celebrate the diversity of gifts within our church and work together for Your glory. Keep us steadfast in Your teachings and help us to live out Your gospel in every aspect of our lives.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
Today, reflect on how you can contribute to the unity and edification of your community. Seek to encourage someone who needs support, and be open to the ways God wants to use you within your church family.
