United in Resurrection Life – A Daily Devotion

0:00

Scripture: Colossians 2:12 (NIV) – “having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.”

Devotion:

As we celebrate the joyous season of Easter, Colossians 2:12 invites us to reflect on the profound spiritual reality of our union with Christ. This verse speaks of our participation in Jesus’ death and resurrection through our faith, offering us a glimpse into the transformative power of Easter in our lives.

“having been buried with him in baptism…” Baptism is a powerful symbol of our identification with Jesus in his death. Just as Jesus was buried in the tomb, so too are we buried with him through baptism. Our old self, characterized by sin and separation from God, is submerged beneath the waters, signifying its death and burial.

“…in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.” But the story does not end with burial. Just as Jesus was raised from the dead by the power of God, so too are we raised to newness of life through our faith in him. Easter is not just a historical event; it is a present reality that transforms us from the inside out.

Through our faith in Jesus Christ, we are united with him in his resurrection. We share in the victory of his triumph over sin and death, and we experience the power of his resurrection working in us. This resurrection power enables us to live transformed lives, characterized by holiness, joy, and purpose.

As we celebrate Easter this year, let us remember the profound truth of Colossians 2:12. Let us rejoice in our union with Christ and the new life that we have been given through his resurrection. And let us live each day in the power of Easter, boldly proclaiming the hope and transformation found in Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

Gracious God, we thank you for the gift of new life through the resurrection of your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us to fully grasp the significance of our union with him and the power of his resurrection at work within us. May we live each day in the reality of Easter, empowered by your Spirit to live transformed lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
